Magnet printing environmental breakthrough

Dandy Managing Director Laurie Gordon (left) accepts Heidelberg’s carbon-neutral platemaker.
Were thrilled to announce that Dandy has taken delivery of the latest pre-press equipment from the German company Heidelberg making us an Australian leader in low-chemical waste production.
Our new carbon-neutral Suprasetter was officially launched at the giant DRUPA printing trade show and we have been one of the first to take advantage of this breakthrough technology.
Traditional offset plates required both developing and fixing chemistry which then had to be disposed of after use. Beside the environmental effect of transporting and processing this waste, there was also the added cost of disposal.
The new Computer-To-Plate technology uses specially manufactured printing plates that require no chemistry and rely on smaller than pinpoint laser beams to etch the plates ready for printing.
The platesetter itself has been produced with a zero carbon footprint using carbon offsets and each machine is issued with a certificate from the appropriate authorities. See natureoffice.com for the full story.
