Get In The Ring For Boxing Day
By: IT Admin
Boxing Day is one of the most important days of the retail calendar, and perhaps the most sought after shopping day in Australia. People who spent weeks of the holiday season shopping for presents for friends and family are likely to get gifts for themselves on Boxing Day (perhaps they didn’t get what they wanted for Christmas?), and with incredible sales and rock bottom prices, it is certainly a day worth waiting for. But by 5 AM on December 26, how do you get shoppers lining up outside your store instead of someplace else? Here are a few tips to get your business securely in the ring for Boxing Day:
- ENCOURAGE IN-STORE PURCHASES.
Boxing day draws a huge crowd, and many people prefer to stay at home and make their purchases online, instead of rubbing elbows with other shoppers. While online shopping is certainly here to stay, having customers inside your store can lead to more purchases. So remind your customers what in-store purchases have to offer – the opportunity to try out, touch, and feel the products before purchasing – plus they automatically eliminate the need to wait for an item to be shipped (less cost too).
- CREATE THE BOXING DAY BUZZ.
Let the public know what they’re in for. Revealing your best deals and most popular products days before the sale date will allow shoppers to plan early. Offering a sneak preview holds the promise of great deals that they probably wouldn’t get from any other store on any other day of the year.
- MAKE SOME NOISE!
When you have that one day to get the attention of shoppers, you want to make sure you’re heard! Utilize all of your marketing channels – letterbox drop, email, social media, posters, etc. and deploy these communications days ahead of time. Make sure that people know what you have in store for them.
- CREATE SCHEDULED DISCOUNTS.
Whether you’re holding the sale on just December 26, or holding it week-long, you want to offer your shoppers something new – otherwise, if you offer everything all in one go, the excitement will soon die down, especially if you’re having the sale for several days. Create a schedule for your potential customers – hourly or daily deals – and send this to them in advance. An excellent way to make sure your customers are reminded is by sending them the schedule on a custom magnet from
Dandy. Seeing that schedule on their fridge also helps build the excitement days or hours leading to your special sale.
- OFFER MORE THAN A DISCOUNT.
If you offer the same discounts like any other store, that doesn’t have as much pull as offering something extra: freebies, exclusive products, and unique customer experiences are just a few ways that can help draw that crowd.
Remember, shoppers will not have a hard time looking for awesome deals on Boxing Day, so you will have to offer something truly stand out. And who knows, if you give those shoppers an experience they won’t soon forget, you may end up seeing them back at your store for more.
